WHY REVERENCE?

What's in a name? Everything. This article explains the inspiration behind the title of the blog. REVERENCE.

...

Of all the testimonies of Heaven and Hell I have heard so far, my favorite was the testimony by 25-year-old Josh Miles. He talked how he was taken to hell first and his experience there was more of feelings of torment and regret. He thought about his life, his family, and all he could have done with his life but he never did. His experience of Heaven could not be any more different. When he was taken up to Heaven, he saw God sitting on His throne in full majesty surrounded by heavenly beings. Josh could not even bring himself to speak, all he wanted to do was to worship and honor God. He did not think about his family or the life he had left on earth. God did not even look into his direction, but he could not care any less. In that moment, nothing about him mattered, it was all about God, the radiance of His glory and Josh only wanted to worship in obedience and REVERENCE.

Reverence defined simply is a feeling of deep respect, veneration or admiration usually accompanied by the action of bowing down. Reverence takes the attention from the worshipper to object of worship. This is how I feel Heaven is like. In the full presence of God, every form of selfishness fades and it is only God’s glory that is in view.

While we can base our worship and faith on what God has done for us and how he has made us into these powerful beings, there has to be a point where we should realize that God is supreme, sovereign and all powerful in spite of us and outside of us. The 24 Elders were highly positioned, with crowns on their heads showing great accomplishment and honor, but in the presence of God all these meant nothing to them. They cast their crowns down and worshipped God for the powerful God that He is [Rev. 4 v 10].

Josh Miles’ testimony revealed this to me more clearly that when we are focused more on our lives, our successes, our desires and even on what God should do for us, we are in our selfish nature and closer to hell than we think. The very nature of hell is built and strives on selfishness as all forms of sin root from selfishness, the need to exalt ourselves above everything and everyone else. The opposite is therefore true, to exalt God above every desire, thought and god will bring us closer to Heaven. This is what REVERENCE is all about.       It is about putting our SELF on a shelf, and FIX OUR EYES on all that is God, his Word, His desire and His Glory.

So, LET THE JOURNEY BEGIN!!!!

I exalt you higher than every thought, every god and all desires. You are worth it Yahweh

Vanessa
